Breast Reconstructive Program
Surrey, B.C. Breast Reconstruction Program
The board-certified plastic surgeons at Plastic Surgery Group are the primary breast reconstructive surgeons for the Breast Health Clinic — a state-of-the-art program that integrates and streamlines the diagnosis, treatment, and reconstruction surgery for women with breast cancer.
In 2010, the Breast Health Clinic opened at the new $300 million Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgical Centre. The mandate of the Breast Health Clinic is for women to receive imaging (ultrasound, mammogram, and/or MRI), biopsy, and diagnosis of any suspicious lump within 21 days. If a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, the Breast Health Clinic immediately connects the woman with one of the surgeons at the Plastic Surgery Group.
At your initial consultation, your reconstructive plastic surgeon will discuss all your options for breast reconstruction and help you decide which one works best for you. Your breast reconstructive surgeon will work closely with you and your medical team to provide you with a cohesive, coordinated treatment plan. There are two types of surgery which can be used for breast reconstruction: Autologous Breast Reconstruction and Breast Implant Reconstruction. The goal is to be able to offer immediate breast reconstruction for every woman who wants one, while also meeting the tight timeline of urgent cancer surgery.
Our Fraser Valley service areas include Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Coquitlam, Port Moody, Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows and Mission, BC.
